Two American congressmen injured in Iraq
Iraq-USA, Local, 11/28/2005
One American military car carrying three members of the US congress had a collision while running in one of the Iraqi capital streets on Saturday evening. Two congressmen were taken to an American base in Germany for medical exam, according to American sources.
Congress employees said on Sunday evening that the two democrats in the US congress Ike Skelton and Tim Murphy were mildly injured in that accident which took place in conclusion of their tour to spend "the Thanksgiving day" with American soldiers in Afghanistan and meeting with the military leaders in Baghdad. The third Congress member Jim Marshal was not injured.
Murphy told the CNN on Sunday evening that the delegation was in its way to Baghdad airport in a military vehicle when their car deviated from the road to avoid an incoming car and collided on its side.
Murphy and Skelton, the prominent figure in the armed forces committee, was able to walk away from the site of the incident, but they were taken later to Germany to undergo medical exam after they suffered pain in the neck.
Murphy said that the medical care plane which transported them was also carrying American soldiers who were injured recently in Iraq. N.
