Families of Syrian Golan prisoners in Israeli jails call for help
Syria-Israel, Politics, 11/24/2005
Families of the occupied Syrian Golan prisoners in Israeli jails called on all international legal boards and human rights organizations to work seriously to "put an end to the Israeli violations against these prisoners."
The families said in a statement Wednesday that "Israeli authorities continue to violate The Geneva Agreements and the international accords regarding war prisoners rights and the conditions of civilians under occupation and ignore all human and international laws."
The statement also underlined that most of the prisoners have been detained for more than 21 years for their acts of defense of dignity and freedom of their people and their Arab Syrian identity.
The prisoners are "suffering from medical lack of treatment by Israeli medical staff, deterioration of prison conditions under cases of malnutrition, torture, oppression and other inhuman methods."
The statement held the occupation authorities responsible for the heath deterioration of the prisoners, expressing concern over "the dangerous results which led to the death of prisoner martyr Hayel Abu Zaid from cancer in jail, due to Israeli deliberate medical indifference."
It also pointed out to the deteriorating health conditions of prisoners Sitan Nimr al-Wali, Sedqi Suleiman al-Maqt and his brother Bishr, Asem Mohammed al-Wali and Wiam Mahmoud Amasha.
