Iranian commitment to help Iraqi president Talibani
Iraq-Iran, Politics, 11/24/2005
The Iraqi President Jalal al-Talibani said in conclusion of a historical visit to Iran that he had received commitment from Iran to help him to end the acts of violence in his country.
Talibani, the first Iraqi president to visit Iran in almost 40 years, said saying farewell to the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that "Iran has an interest in our security exactly the same interest we have in our security.. we have to use all means in order to establish security in Iraq."
Iraqi, American and British officials accuse Iran of supporting some faction-gunmen in Iraq, and in interfering in the political affairs of the country. However, Iran continuously denies these accusations and simultaneously expresses satisfaction over the Shiite control of the state departments in Iraq.
Concerning the elections, the Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sader called on his supporters to take part in the legislative elections due to be held on December 15, and to vote for candidates who seek to expel the occupation forces.
Several leaders of al-Sader group are taking part in the election under the Shiite United Iraqi coalition list, after they had perviously intended to launch the elections within "al-Sader list."
