Egyptian police kills a suspect of Sinai explosions

The Egyptian police killed three persons in clashes with armed men in center of Sinai. These include one of the main persons said to be involved in the explosions which took place in 2004 and 2005 in Sinai.

News reports said that the police forces besieged the three men in al-Hallal area. They are Khuder al-Shanoub who is suspected of carrying out Sinai explosions as well as his cousin Salam Atieh al-Shanoub and Muhammad Khuser al-Shanoub.

A statement by the Egyptian ministry of interior said that at the site of the incident "three machineguns and land mines and bombs were found."

The statement added that al-Shanoub "assumed training the executing members of Sinai attacks and provided shelter for persons involved in it. He was also assigned to prepare the explosives and he embraced al-Jihad thinking."

The statement added that the terrorism fighting force moved to besiege the suspect after information was provided that they intend to "carry out a new terrorist operation." Security sources said that number of killed persons among the involved in Sinai incidents increased to 11, while other 37 were detained.

Worthy mentioning that Egypt witnessed explosions that targeted Taba hotel and resulted in killing 34 persons in October 2004, and explosions in hotels in Sharm al-Sheikh resulted in killing almost 70 persons in July this year.
