Al-Jazeera: Rare meeting between Jaafari, al-Dari

The headquarters of the Arab League in Egypt witnessed a meeting which is the first of its kind between the Iraqi prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari and the secretary general of the Muslim Scholars Commission (Sunni opposition representative group), Harith al-Dari.
One official source in the Arab League said that the AL secretary general contributed in convening this meeting which was held on the sideline of a lunch work for the heads of delegations taking part in the conference.
Al-Jazeera satellite tv said that Jaafari and al-Dari concentrated on the issue of torture in which the ministry of interior is accused off. Jaafari promised to form a joint committee from the government and the Commission to look into this issue. Jaafari told journalists after the meeting that a great progress was achieved in the preliminary meetings in all debated issues, and that reconciliation was attained among many Iraqi sides.
Al-Jazeera said that al-Dari and former chairman of the Iraqi Islamic Party, Mohsin Abdul Hamid, met with the United Iraqi coalition delegation in the presence of the AL chief in order to discuss items of the final statement to be issues by the conference.
