Iraqi national conference admits resistance deplores terrorism
Regional-Iraq, Politics, 11/21/2005
Al-Jazeera satellite TV said that the participants in the Iraqi national conference, being held in Egypt, agreed on a draft for the final statement of their preliminary conference currently held at the premises of the Arab League.
Al-Jazeera said that the statement, in particular, deplores terrorism and makes a distinction between terrorism and resistance. It also condemns the shedding of Iraqi blood. A committee is also to be formed, supervised by the Arab League secretary general Amre Mousa, in order to reach calm in Iraq.
The statement also includes text that calls for scheduling foreign withdrawal from Iraq when the Iraqi forces are capable to assume their responsibilities.
The coordinator of the drafting committee of the final statement Amer al-Tamimi said that a reconciliatory solution was reached over drawing a schedule for the withdrawal from Iraq and that this solution links between the withdrawal and rebuilding the Iraqi forces.
Al-Tamimi added that there is a consensus among 16 Iraqi figures on the need to work to halt violence in Iraq and release the detainees.
