Progress for Muslim Brothers in Alexandria parliamentary elections

News reports in Egypt said that the candidates of the Muslim Brothers are making progress in Alexandria, in the course of the second phase of the legislative elections, noting that so far two candidates won elections in Mina al-Basal in Alexandria and a third, Sheikh Sayed Askar, in Tanta city in al-Gharbeyah governorate.

Sources at the ministry of interior, for its part stressed that 6 candidates for the group at least won in Alexandria during this phase in which some 1706 candidates are competing to occupy 144 seats out of the total 444 seats of the parliament.

News reports quoted officials in the Muslim Brothers group that 60% of them won the second phase or they will take part in the runoff elections. Worthy mentioning that 34 members of the group won in the first phase of the elections against 112 for the ruling party.
