Reactions supporting Syria under pressure, effect on Turkey

The US wants to siege Syria under the pretext of the international investigating on assassination of former Lebanese Premier Rafiq Hariri, warning against the price the Ankara will pay in light of any new such development in the region, Turkish newspaper said Friday.

The newspaper 'Yeni Safak' called for shouldering the responsibility and thinking about what will happen to Turkey in a case of targeting Syria.

"Turkey, then, will, completely, be isolated from the Middle East." The paper said adding "All know well the price that Turkey had paid for the occupation of Iraq."

In Beirut, Deputy President of the Islamic Shiite Supreme Council Abdul Amir Qabalan renewed solidarity with Syria to face the pressures she is exposed to, saying "Lebanon will not be a center or passageway for those targeting Syria." Qabalan, called on all Lebanese to assert their national and pan-Arab principles and commitment with axioms included in al-Taif Accord on top of which the Arab identity of Lebanon and its belonging to the Arab surrounding.

"The Israeli violations and aggressions on Lebanon are continuous when at the time Israel rejects to implement the UN international resolutions," Qabalan affirmed, stressing Lebanon's adherence to the resistance and its arm.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Lebanese al-Najada Party Mustafa Hakim underlined that the US exploits the international investigation into the Hariri assassination and escalates the situation in service of its and Israel's interests.

"To uncover the truth of Hariri assassination is in Syria's and Lebanon's interests." He said, stressing the necessity of not exploiting this crime to settle grievances and affect Syria's steadfastness and principles.

In Cairo, Egyptian political intellectuals condemned the US and western pressures against Syria that "aim at changing the country's political as well as national and pan-Arab firm stances in order to achieve a series of US inclinations and Israeli goals in the region."

"Syria is the only Arab country that plays a big role in the region. This role exceeds her national borders, where the Syrian forces in Lebanon had worked to preserve the Arab identity of this country and to foil the continuous endeavors to take it out of its Arab frame," chairman of Java center for political studies in Cairo, Rifaat Sayed Ahmad, said. He added "This role had annoyed the West and Washington specifically."

In Paris, the Syrian-French Friendship and Solidarity Association vehemently denounced the false accusations directed at Syria, stressing stand by Syria and putting all capabilities and energies to support her in the face of external pressures and "threats that serve Israel's interests in the region."

In Rome, Chairman of the Rome-Based International Peace and Relief Organization Fabio Alberty underscored the organization's solidarity with Syria "in the face of plots and threats She is exposed to, particularly the US ones." "The USA had exploited opportunities to impose hegemony on the region in order to implement its strategy by dominating oil of the Middle East," Alberty told SANA.

"The moral logic necessitates all to stand against the war on Iraq and call for ending it," Alberty said, stressing that "the US use of white phosphor in bombing Falluja poses a defiance of the international community particularly to those who support the US occupation of Iraq." He called upon all international and western society to "exert efforts in order to put an end to the US strategy against the region."
