Scores killed, injured in attack near Qabu al-Jadereyah in Baghdad
Iraq, Military, 11/18/2005

Six persons were at least killed and others injured in two booby trapped cars explosions in Baghdad. The attack targeted al-Hamra hotel which is often visited by foreigners in al- Jadereyah area to the south of Baghdad, situated near a complex for the ministry of interior, where 173 Iraqi detainees were found in secret basement where they were severly tortured.

A security source said that the first car destroyed the cement barrier which besieges the back entrance of the hotel, while the second car was able to penetrate the entrance to blow up later.

The number of victims is expected to increase as this strong explosion resulted in the collapse and damage of several residential houses adjoining al-Hamra hotel.

Four Iraqis were injured in a booby trapped car explosions when one procession carrying several cars often used by the foreign security companies exploded southeast of Baqouba northeast of Baghdad.

In another incident, the police said that gunmen kidnapped today Tawfiq al-Yasiri, a candidate in the December elections from his house west of Baghdad. Al-Yasiri is launching the elections under a list known as "the sun of Iraq" that includes several Shiite candidates.
