Jordan tightens security to prevent new attacks
Jordan, Politics, 11/16/2005

Jordan has taken new measures to prevent the occurrence of new explosions. These measures include demanding all Jordanians who rent real estates to foreigners to register the names of the renters at the authorities circles within 48 hours.

The Jordanian minister of interior Aouni Yarfas said that any person who does not abide by this measure will be questioned by the law. One Jordanian senior official asked to be anonymous said that the government is also preparing a new legislation providing the authorities the mission of detaining any suspect for unlimited time, noting that a draft resolution to this effect will be debated before the parliament by the beginning of next year.

Meantime, the director of the US intelligence services John Negroponte arrived in Amman in order to hold talks with the Jordanian officials. No comment was issued by the American embassy in Amman on the objective of the visit.

Two explosives experts from the Interpol also arrived in Amman in order to exchange information with their Jordanian peers, according to the Jordanian news agency, PETRA.
