Syrian-Swedish talks over parliamentary and defense Issues

Syria asserted on Thursday rejection and condemnation of all forms of terrorism as well the need to differentiate between terrorism and the legitimate right of peoples to resist occupation.

Speaker Mahmoud Al-Brash told a visiting Sweden parliamentary delegation from the defense committee, about the process of development and modernization Syria is witnessing, as well the People's Assembly role in issuing legislation in addition to combating corruption and inefficiency.

For her part, Minister of Expatriates Buthaina Shabaan, told the visiting delegation about importance of developing the Syrian-Swedish ties in both countries interests.

"It is important to deal in a real way with issues of the region," the Minister noted pointing out at risks posed due to the "double standard way of handling international resolutions" and said that "Israel is challenging the international legitimacy by its occupation of Arab lands and its ignoring of the international resolutions."

Shaaban emphasized "significance of cooperation and dialogue" as well the search for common grounds to find an effective formula in maintaining stability in the region.

The Swedish parliamentary group said that "cooperation is a must with Syria as well making use of her view over dealing with common issues among current crises."

"Syria has an important role to achieve stability in the region and realize her right of restoring the occupied lands in Golan," the delegation said.
