Many acts of violence in Iraq, three police men killed today

In the most recent acts of violence, three Iraqi police men were killed today and two others injured in an attack at an inspection point for the police in the downtown of Baqouba northeast of Baghdad. According to the police, the attack was launched by seven gunmen who were in a small bus. Four Georgian soldiers were injured on Thursday in the same city in a mine explosions.

Bloody events were also on Thursday after the killing of 35 persons and the inuring of other 25 during an attack against a restaurant in Baghdad. The attack was claimed by al-Qaida organization in a statement on the Internet.

Ten persons were killed and other 20 injured when a booby trapped car went off in front of a recruitment center in Tikrit north of Baghdad. According to the Iraqi ministry of interior, 6 civilians were injured in a bomb explosion that targeted a vehicle for the American army north of Baghdad.

The Islamic Party, one of the largest Sunni parties, deplored the killing of the director of its branch in al-Ramadi city west of Iraq at the hands of unidentified gunmen. The party said that Ahmad Rasheed al-Rawi died from torture because no traces for bullets were found on his body. The party also stressed that Jamal Ghaz'al, another official in the party was exposed to a failed assassination attempt by a bomb targeting his vehicle.

Also, some 27 bodies were found killed by bullet fire, in a town situated between al-Kout city and the Iranian border south of Iraq. The identity of the victims was not known. According to press statistics, some 653 bodies were found since the formation of the government of Ibrahim al-Jaafari on April 28th. Many of these bodies were not identified but included not less 116 bodies for Arab Sunni, and 43 Shiite ad one Kurdish.
