Judicial activists demonstrate in Bahrain
Bahrain, Politics, 11/11/2005

Hundreds of Bahraini people demonstrated in the capital Manama on Thursday in protest for human rights violations and demanding jobs, finding solutions for housing, and receiving the Bahraini nationality. The demonstration was in response to the call by people's committees in the country.

The judicial activist Nabil Rajab, the deputy chairman for the dissolved Bahrain center for human rights, said that the aim of the demonstration is to reach its voice to the al-Mustaqbal ( future) forum due to be convened today with the participation of 36 countries and 15 regional and international organizations.

Rajab added that the activists are seeking to get morale support from the said Forum and the International community for these local issues.

The demonstrators during the demonstration, which included 12 people's committee, chanted slogans called for trying the violators of human rights and for fairness to the victims of torture, demanding the Bahraini prime minister Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman to resign from his post.

Worthy mentioning that the second session of the al-Mustaqbal forum is attended by several Middle East and North Africa leaders and Presidents, the G-8 and other industrial countries in order to discuss political, economic and social reforms in the region.

The first session of the forum was held in December 2004 in Morocco following the "Greater Middle East initiative" which was launched by the US President George W. Bush during the G-8 summit in June 2004.
