Seven Iraqis killed in explosions in Baghdad

Seven Iraqis were killed and other 30 injured in the explosions of three booby trapped cars near a Shiite mosque north of the capital Baghdad.

These explosions took place on Wednesday evening and targeted al-Shouroqi mosque where the supporters of the Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sader pray; and at the police center in al-Shaab quarters.

These explosions came after an attack carried out by unidentified gunmen targeting a driver at the Sudanese embassy in al-Mansour area east of Baghdad resulted in killing him immediately.

In an earlier field development, seven members of the Iraqi police were killed and other nine injured including three civilians in a booby trapped car explosions targeting a police vehicle in Baqouba northeast of Baghdad.

In Baqouba city four Georgian soldiers were killed on Wednesday in a landmine explosion while they were carrying out their daily work in the city situated northeast of Baghdad.

One employee at the Iraqi ministry of education was killed when gunmen opened fire at him while he was driving his car on his way to his office at the ministry in Baghdad.

On the other hand, Hatem al-Hosni, brother of the chairman of the Iraqi national council, Hajem al- Hosni, was kidnapped together with two of his escorts in Karkouk city, north of Baghdad.
