al-Riyadh: Abdullah asks Bush to release Barazan al-Takriti
Iraq-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 11/4/2005

The Saudi daily al-Riyadh said that the Saudi King Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz sent a message to the America President George W. Bush asking him to consider the releasing the brother for the former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, Barazan al-Takriti.

Al-Riyadh wrote: the Saudi King "extended a message of humanitarian nature apart from political effects to the US President George Bush for releasing Barazan al-Takriti," who is jailed in Iraq and suffers cancer.

The paper explained that Abdullah asked Bush for "a humanitarian understanding for his ( al Takriti) critical health condition" and quoted special sources that Bush dealt the request "with special care," noting "the possibility of meeting the desire" of Abdullah.

Recently, the Iraqi prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari announced he does not oppose getting al-Takriti out of prison and providing medical treatment for him in hospital.
