Feast sermon lashes out at UN accusations to syria
Syria-UN, Politics, 11/4/2005

A senior clergyman expressed on the first day of Moslem's feast on Thursday astonishment over the "big false accusation," implied in the report of UN investigating committee on assassination of former Lebanese Premier, calling to reconsider the international legitimacy means of dealings.

" While Syria is having a look on the first pages of the report on investigation of the killing of former Lebanese Premier Rafik Hariri, and while she is following up the UN Security Council meetings... She looks with astonishment over this big false accusation that the report implied by accrediting information gestures and malicious claims," Sheikh Abdhul Salam Rajeh who delivered the Feast sermon before President Bashar al-Assad and a prayers said.

The sermon criticized calls to "military solutions and prospected wars under the claim of spreading illusive democracies and suspected reforms that bring back images of old colonialism renewed by flagrant violations for all ethical values dominating humans ties."

He said "we have to ask while deliberating the UN resolution 1636 over our cooperation with the investigation, Are there any clues indicating the opposite and has the UN Security Council built its decision on preconceived prejudice then. How long will there be the policy of double standards posing as the unfair balance and judging peoples, and how long will there be certain forces controlling the decision and destiny of many nations weaker than they are?"

He called the world to reconsider how deals with its problems, noting that Syria under her aware leadership has attracted the world attention by her firm and principled stances mainly those concerned with the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Sheikh Rajeh underlined that there was nothing wrong between Syria and any of the world countries and peoples as long as these ties are controlled by values of justice, and principles of respect. He stressed that even with the "United States, we have nothing against her and her people, neither an enmities nor any revenge or bitter feeling, but it is its politicians who have categorized us in their enemies section to serve a handful of Zionists."

The feast speech urged the UN to practice neutrality and honesty while giving opinion on the world issues and problems.
