Polesario and the killing of Hamdi Lembarki

The Polesario called on the UN Security Council to urgently interfere to halt what it called the Moroccan human rights violations and the "killing of innocents" in the western Sahara and to investigate in the death of Hamdi Lembarki who died of wounds in his head in al-Oyoun city several days before celebrating the 30 anniversary of Morocco's annexation of the western Sahara.

The Polesario said that witnesses stressed that Lembarki died because of his wounds in the head after he collided with a police car during a demonstration in which the Moroccan security forces were stoned, and he was also beaten on the head. But Rabat said that his wounds were a result of a stone thrown by the demonstrators.

The Polesraio, which Algeria is considered the greatest supporter, seeks to establish an independent state on the lands of the west Sahara. A matter which is rejected by Morocco which says that the district is an integral part of its lands but expressed readiness to discuss giving it a plenary autonomy inside the Moroccan sovereignty.
