Al-Akhbar: Sharons raids on Palestinians are against peace
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 11/2/2005

In an editorial by the Egyptian Al-Akhbar, Rifqi Fakhri wrote that: He who follows up the raids by Israel on Gaza and the West Bank will realize the true intensions of this neighbor that was imposed on us via Belfor's promise. He will know that such people do not want peace nor do they aim to reach it.

It is not reasonable for Sharon and his cabinet to continue their daily attacks on Palestinian people without expecting the latter would answer these attacks in a way or another. That is against logic.

Sharon declares open war against resistance factions. Meantime, he doesn't want any response. If Sharon attacks unarmed people, he will say he is against terrorism. If the Palestinian cadres felt provocation and humiliation due to successive strikes against women and children and tried to answer, US President dubs them as armed gangs, asking to disarm them.

That is the case now in the Palestinian territories that can never proceed for good: Daily attacks on an entire people while asking them to keep silent and motionless.

It is funny enough for Israeli leaders to announce that achieving peace or setting up a Palestinian state in this generation has become an issue that is not possible. It seems that Palestinians are those who do not want peace and Sharon is the man-of-peace.
