Scores killed, injured in Iraq

Scores of Iraqis were killed or injured in new attacks in different parts of Iraq, while the American and Iraqi forces intensify their campaigns to chase gunmen and limit the number of bomb explosions.

Sources in the Iraqi police said that three Iraqis were killed including one policeman in a bomb explosion that targeted a police vehicle in al-Madaen, south of Baghdad.

In Karkouk, north Iraq, the leader of the emergency police in the city and his driver were killed when one suicide bomber detonated himself among convoys for police cars in the center of the city The police found in Balad north of Baghdad, two bodies for two persons killed by bullets, one of them is a police officer and another policeman an was kidnapped from his house near Sameraa.

In Baghdad, sources in the Iraqi police said that two Iraqis were killed and three injured when one bomb was detonated on the roadside near a vehicle for special forces for the Iraqi police.

Two police men were injured when their vehicle was attacked in the same area south of the capital. Another bomb targeted a police vehicle on al-Sedeih road south of Baghdad and one civilian was injured as a result of the attack.

For its part, the American army said that it started a vast campaign concentrating on reviving the capital, with the aim to limit the number of explosions which increased human losses in October in the lines of the American soldiers. The operation continues for five days and includes search operations for explosions and chasing suspects.
