On Poland, Italy troop withdrawal from Iraq
Iraq-USA, Politics, 11/1/2005
The acceleration of developments in Iraq dropped its shadows on the future of the foreign forces deployed there.
The new Polish prime minister announced that the USA invited his defense and foreign ministers to discuss the future of the Polish military mission in Iraq.
The new Polish premier said that the decision of the presence of the Polish army in Iraq was taken by the previous government and that the Polish military forces will remain there until February, 2006. Poland has 1700 soldiers in Iraq.
On the other hand, the issue of Italy's withdrawal of its forces in Iraq, front-paged the talks the Italian prime minister Silvio Berleskony had in Washington with the US President George W. Bush.
The Italian news agencies quoted Berleskony as saying that it is not expected to withdraw any of his country's forces before the end of the year, because of the next Iraqi elections. He added that his foreign minister will be meeting with the American defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld in January 2006 to discuss the schedule for the withdrawal of the Italian forces ( 3000 soldiers ) from Iraq.
