Nasrullah calls for halting pressure on Syria
Lebanon-Syria-UN, Politics, 10/29/2005

In Beirut, the secretary general of the Lebanese Hizbullah party called on the Arab League to interfere to block what he called "an international mandate on Lebanon" and to halt pressures against Syria.

Nasrullah stressed before scores of thousands of participants on World Day In Solidarity With Jerusalem, held in southern Beirut, his party's stand beside Syria in challenging what he called "the American and Zionist aims," accusing the international community of supporting Israel at the expense of the Palestinians, the Lebanese and the Arabs.

The leader of the Hizbullah party held "important Arab states, such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia, responsible for important tasks in this regard." He said "They the two countries that should not stand aside and leave the region for the American master."

Nassrallah added that Syria was being punished for standing by Lebanon and its resistance, and because it rejected unilateral deals with Israel, and because she stood by the Palestinian resistance.

He pointed out that Syria managed to resist for 25 years and has rejected capitulation and giving in to the US.-Israeli conditions by its historical stance by the resistance in Lebanon.

He expressed surprise over how the content of the International Investigation Report had been leaked to the Israeli press before reaching UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

He said that the United States and Israel were quick to politicized the report in order to impose sanctions against Syria through the United Nations.

Nassrallah underlined his rejection of prosecuting anyone in Lebanon, Syria or from the Palestinian without hard evidence and without a fair trial.

He denounced the international envoy Terry Rod Larsen's report in which he demanded the demarcation of the borders between Syria and Lebanon in the light of the tense atmosphere between the two states, stressing that "the aim of Larsen and his masters is to disarm the Palestinian camps and the Lebanese national resistance."

In his speech which was preceded by an almost military parade, Nasrullah strongly criticized what was stated in the UN report several days ago concerning Lebanon, and accused the its UN delegate Terry Rod Larsen of "practicing international mandating on Lebanon."

Nasrullah considered that "the most dangerous in this report is that it implants division and sectarianism between the Lebanese and the Palestinians, and among the Lebanese themselves, as well as between the Lebanese resistance and the government."
