Blair does not rule out sanctions on Syria
Syria-Lebanon-UK, Politics, 10/25/2005

The British prime minister Tony Blair has not ruled out the imposition of sanctions in Syria because of the UN report on the assassination of the former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri, stressing the graveness of what is stated in the report.

Blair said in an interview with Sky News that any remark to the possibility of Syria's involvement or any other country in the operations, "should be very seriously dealt with because this matter does not test our relations with this country, rather, also our ability to ensure honoring a state of rule of law at the international level."

Blair considered that "there is no nothing more dangerous than seeking to destroy other country's democracy by terrorism."

Meantime, the British foreign office secretary Jack Straw stressed before the House Of Common the need not to be tolerant of any country member at the UN whose "officials collaborate to get rid off political opposition."
