scores of Iraqis, American soldier killed in Baghdad

The American army on Monday announced the killing of one of its soldiers by gunmen in Ramadi city west of Iraq on Sunday.

On the other hand, two Iraqis were killed and other five were injured in an attack by a booby trapped car targeting their vehicle in al-Shaab quarters to the northeast of Baghdad.

To the southwest of Baghdad, the secretary of the director general of the area's municipality Muhammad Ali Nemeh and three municipality workers were killed by the bullets of unidentified gunmen in al-Sedeyeh quarters. One passerby was killed in the incident.

Also in Baghdad, one Iraqi policeman was killed by the bullets of gunmen and two others were injured in a roadside bomb explosions in the city.

On the other hand, the Iraqi army found in the first hours Monday six bodies in different areas in Baghdad, one of them for an engineer working for the dissolved military manufacturation commission.

In Musil, north Iraq, an Iraqi police was killed by gunmen while the official in the Kurdistani Democratic Party, Ibrahim Zankana, survived an assassination attempt when gunmen attacked his procession on Monday in Karkouk. This resulted in wounding him and killing one of his guards and injuring another.

In another attack, a Iraqi police man was killed and other three Iraqis injured in a bomb explosion when their vehicle was running east of Karkouk.

To the south of Baghdad, some 12 construction workers were killed in an attack by gunmen in al-Maseib town south of Baghdad. A source in the Iraqi police said that the attackers came in two cars also kidnapped the contractor for whom the workers were recruited.

In another development, a source at the Iraqi North Oil Company announced that several mortars shelling fell on a complex for oil and gas lines west of Karkouk, and this resulted in setting fire ablaze in 16 pipelines and the suspension of exports to Turkey.
