12 Iraqis killed in series of attacks

At least 12 Iraqis were killed and scores injured in a series of attacks that took place in various parts of Iraq, targeting mostly the police.
The most violent of these attacks were in the center of Baghdad, where Iraqi sources said that four were killed including two police men, one is an army officer and other 16 were injured in a booby trapped car.
The explosion took place near the tunnel of al-Tahrir ( liberation) quarters when a police vehicle was running, and this resulted in burning several cars and shops in the neighboring al-Khayyam market.
In al-Doura quarters south of Baghdad, two civilians were injured when an explosion took place in an empty reservoir.
The Iraqi police said that one colonel in the police was killed along with two of his children when one bomb went off near his house in Tikrit city north of Baghdad.
Gunmen also killed one police officer in an attack in the center of Baqouba. In Karkouk one Iraqi was killed and other 11 injured in a suicide attack in a booby trapped car targeting an American vehicle.
