Morocco, Algeria accusations over illegal African immigration
Algeria-Morocco, Politics, 10/18/2005

Morocco and Algeria continued the exchange of accusations over the sneaking of illegal immigrants coming from the African states, south of the Sahara desert, through their lands towards Spain.

The Algerian foreign ministry described the accusations addressed by Morocco to Algeria of involvement in the illegal African immigration phenomenon as "fabricated, and false."

The Algerian minister of state and the personal envoy of president Abdul Aziz Balkhadem said that his country has become just a stick for Morocco for hanging all its internal problem on.

In a telephone call with al-Jazeera satellite tv, Balkhadem called for common consultations with the African states from where the emigrants come.

On Monday, Morocco accused Algeria and the Polisario front of using the issue of the African illegal immigration to achieve what it described as promoting campaigns in the framework of the conflict over the western Sahara.

The Moroccan prime minister Idriss Jetto said that the Polisarior front and Algeria are gathering scores of Africans "candidates" for immigrating to Europe via Morocco in the Algerian city of Tandouf, with the aim to employ them in the Sahara conflict.
