Egypt, Russia discuss Middle East issues
Egypt-Russia, Politics, 10/18/2005

Spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Michael Kaminin said Monday that Russia and Egypt agree on the importance of establishing a comprehensive peace in the Middle East and avoid eruption of spots of tension in the region.

Commenting on the 18-20 October visit to Moscow by the Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Abu al-Ghait, Kaminin said Russian Foreign Minister Sergie Lavrov is going to discuss with his Egyptian counterpart Abu al-Ghait the developments on Syria and the events in Lebanon and the urgent issues in the Middle East, particularly the Arab-Israeli settlement.

He added that both sides are going also to discuss joint actions to fight terrorism and other challenges as well as the situation in Africa.

The Russian diplomat said that such cooperation with Egypt becomes a factor of growing importance to establish stability in the Middle East and the world.
