Preliminary results of Iraqis constitution referendum

Preliminary figures of the results of the referendum on the Iraqi constitution showed that the Iraqis voted for approving the constitution in the referendum which was carried out on Saturday, and the percentage of support in 6 Iraqi governorates of the Shiite majority reached more than 90%.

According to figures announced by the higher commission of the elections, according to the first selection operation of the elections, 99% of the participants in the elections in al-Anbar governorate opposed the constitution. It was also opposed by 70% of the voters in Salah Eddin governorate. In Ninwa, 424,000 voters out of 778,000 against the constitution while 353,000 supported it.

Percentages of those who approved the constitution in al-Suleimaneyah governorate reached 98%, 60% in Karkouk. This percentage increased to 70% in Babel governorate, while it was supported by 85% of the citizens of al-Najaf and Karbala, and it was also supported by half of the population of Waset governorate.

According to the higher commission, these figures are not final and they should be first transferred to Baghdad for audition and inspection.
