Morocco is ready for dialogue with Algeria on Sahara issue
Morocco-Algeria, Politics, 10/15/2005

Morocco has announced readiness for direct dialogue with Algeria over the western Sahara, which is under disputes between the Kingdom and the Algeria- backed Polisario movement.

This was expressed by the Moroccan minister of communications and spokesman for the Moroccan government Nabil Bin Abdullah on Thursday in a press conference in Paris in which he said that al-Rabat is ready for a direct dialogue with Algeria, noting that that USA, France, and Spain supports this idea.

Morocco accuses Algeria of being the main obstacle in front of finding out a solution to the western Sahara issue through its support for the Polisario front, while Algeria considers itself as not involved in this conflict.

The Moroccan communications minister repeated that his country's option states "an expanded self rule under the Moroccan sovereignty for the western Sahara"for which the UN tries to organize a referendum for self determination since 1992.
