Assassination facts will end Lebanese concern: Lahoud
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 10/14/2005
Lebanon's President Emile Lahoud said Thursday that unveiling the truth of the assassination of Lebanese former Premier Rafiq Hariri will contribute to removing Lebanese people's concerns and fears.
President Lahoud, meeting a number of Lebanese political figures, ruled out any concerns regarding the countrt's internal affairs following any announcement on the facts of the crime.
He renewed his country's support to the national resistance in confronting the Israeli continuous violations of the Lebanese sovereignty and airspace, and in defending the land.
"The Lebanese are agreed on backing the national resistance... the resistance has offered sacrifices to liberate the greatest part of South Lebanon from the Israeli occupation," President Lahoud added.
Meanwhile, Lebanese MP Hasan Fadlullah said that the Lebanese delegation which returned home after a visit to France had told the French officials that the official and public stance in Lebanon considers the resistance as a natural right to defend the land.
"The delegation also stressed that pressure on Lebanon through resolution 1559 will provoke concerns in the country," Fadlullah added in a press conference.
"We have explained our viewpoint concerning Lebanese stances which consider that Lebanon can develop its capabilities and solve its own issues through the will of its people away from foreign interventions," Fadlullah said.
