Syria adopts new procedures to prevent bird flu

Syria's Minister of Agriculture Adel Safar underlined on Wednesday the government's commitment to take all necessary procedures and precautions to prevent the bird flu disease infection from spreading across Syria, calling for the importance of warning those who breed the birds against the dangers of this disease.
"Syria is threatened by this disease which can reach the country through immigrant birds, particularly after they fly from Russia," the minister said in a statement following an extraordinary meeting at the Agriculture ministry to discuss dangers resulted from the infection of bird flu disease.
