The other five non-permanent members at the Council are Argentine, Denmark, Greece, Japan and Tanzania. Their term will be ending on December 31, 2006.
The US ambassador to the UN John Bolton said that Washington is looking forward to work with the five ( new ) non permanent members on issues like fighting terrorism, mass destruction weapons, concentration on more effective operations for peace keeping, and more effective decisions for the UN Security Council concerning political conflicts in the world.
However, the Israeli daily Haartz quoted sources in the Israeli mission at the UN as saying that the new structure for the UN security council is better for Israel. The paper added Qatar is better than Algeria, and the Israeli foreign minister Silvan Shaloum has firm relations with senior officials in Qatar. Besides Israel's ambassador at the UN Dan Gillerman has friendship ties with the Qatari ambassador at the UN, the paper said.
