Mehlis committee to continue mission until December
Lebanon-UN, Politics, 10/10/2005

Lebanese Justice Minister, Charles Rizk, said that the UN investigation committee into the assassination of former Lebanese Premier Rafiq Hariri would remain in Lebanon until mid December.

Rizk told a radio interview on Sunday that work of the committee ha been confined between the Lebanese General Prosecutor judge Said Mirza and head of the committee Detlev Mehlis.

The Lebanese minister refused to talk about the content of Mehlis' report which would be presented to the UN Chief Kofi Annan on October 21.

He also denied the idea that there is a deal behind the extension of the work of the investigation committee until mid December, saying that "the subject is purely legal, and should be confined to its legal framework...and I would not go into any speculations."
