12 Iraqis, US soldier killed in Iraq

One American marine was killed in a bomb explosion in al-Ramadi city west of the capital Baghdad.

In a statement, the US army said that the soldier was killed during the military operations carried out by some 500 American soldiers and 400 Iraqi soldiers west of Iraq, making the number of American soldiers killed in Iraq since the invasion of this country in March 2003 increase to 1953.

In another statement, the US army announced that it killed a prominent figure in al-Qaida organization who was a liaison point in assigning armed operations between this organization and the operations in the western area of the Euphrates river valley.

The Iraqi police announced the killing of 12 Iraqis in different events including 6 killed in a small bus explosion north of Baghdad believed to be transporting explosives.

The American forces backed by the Iraqi forces killed 90 gunmen in its military operations in al-Anbar area, west Iraq, according to the spokesman of the Iraqi prime minister.
