Spain expels scores of emigrants to Morocco

Spain started on Friday to expel scores of African emigrants who sneaked illegally to its land thru Morocco, at a time when the issue of illegal migration has heated up as a result of the killing of 11 Africans involved in a collective sneaking attempts towards Spain.

One local official in Tangier, north Morocco, said that a group of 73 African emigrants were expelled by Spain on Thursday evening to the city. According to the same source, Spanish police handed over the emigrants to the Moroccan authorities, and that they are in a social center in the city where specialized circles are trying to make sure of their identities.

The Moroccan authorities announced approval to return back 73 emigrants, from African countries that are south of the desert, from Spain and take necessary measures to ensure receiving and sheltering those people and providing them with medical care.

Meantime, The Sans Frontier non governmental organization said that the Moroccan authorities expelled a group including more than 500 African emigrants left in a desert area south of the country.

The organization explained according to testimonies of African emigrants that the Moroccan police took African emigrants after the Spanish civil guards expelled them to Sabta and Malila to al-Oweineh area, a desert area in south Morocco, 600 km from Wajda town.

The organization said that it gave medical treatment to more than 50 persons including women and children and admitted six to hospital in Bu Arefah.

However, several non- governmental organizations talked about testimonies that the Spanish authorities expelled illegally to Morocco the emigrants who could cross the double fense which separates the two Spanish cities from North Morocco.
