Lebanon to import Egyptian natural gas

Egypt's Minister of Petroleum Sameh Fahmi and Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water Mohamed Fenish signed Wednesday a protocol for joint cooperation in the field of oil and natural gas.
The two ministers agreed on exporting Egyptian natural gas to Lebanon through the Arab natural gas pipeline as well as setting up joint ventures to re-operate Lebanese refineries in Tripoli, North Lebanon and extending natural gas networks inside Lebanon.
The Lebanese side is to benefit from the Egyptian expertise in the field of two and three-dimension seismic studies.
The two ministers discussed the possibility of joint cooperation in the field of holding petroleum agreements.
The protocol also outlines the possibility of refining crude oil for Lebanon in Egyptian refineries.
On the other hand, Minister of Electricity Hassan Yunis said it was agreed with the Lebanese side on transferring electricity from Egypt to Lebanon through the Egyptian-Jordanian-Syrian-Lebanese electricity linkage networks.
