UAE drops military tanks deal to be given to Iraq
United Arab Emirates-Iraq-Switzerland, Politics, 10/6/2005

The Swiss ministry of the economy said on Wednesday that the United Arab Emirates abrogated a deal for buying 180 tanks of M-113 type that it intended to give to Iraq. The ministry explained that the UAE justified its decision in not wanting to wait any longer for their delivery.

The Swiss government decided by the end of August to suspend the handing over of this delivery which was announced in June after it raised a controversy because of reports talked about the possibility of the Iraqi army using of these tanks rather than Iraqi police, as stipulated by Switzerland.
