Lebanon ask for Egyptian natural gas
Egypt-Lebanon, Economics, 10/4/2005

Egypt's Minister of Petroleum Sameh Fahmi and Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water Mohamed Fenish will sign on Wednesday a protocol for joint cooperation between the two states in the fields of oil and natural gas.

The Lebanese side will make use of the Egyptian expertise in reaching petroleum agreements, Fahmi said, following the talks he held with the Lebanese Minister, who is on a visit to Egypt.

The two ministers discussed exporting natural gas to Lebanon as soon as possible through the Arab natural gas pipeline.

A working group of the Ministry of Petroleum paid a visit to Lebanon last September to assess oil refineries in North and South Lebanon.

The group also discussed the possibility of refining crude oil for Lebanon in Egyptian refineries.

Fahmi also said oil sector is ready to support oil and natural gas sector in Lebanon.

On the other hand, talks between Minister of Electricity Hassan Yunis and his Lebanese counterpart Mohamed Fenish started Monday.

The talks included establishing an Egyptian-Lebanese power company to encourage investment in the two states through companies working in manufacturing electric equipment.
