An inter Iraqi crisis looms
Iraq, Politics, 10/4/2005

A Kurdish delegation representing the two main parties in Iraq's Kurdistan, the Kurdistani National Union party and the Kurdistani Democratic Party headed for Baghdad in order to discuss with their main ally in the government, the Shiite United Iraqi coalition list, the crisis with the Iraqi prime minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari for "making decisions on his own."

Azad Jindiani, the chairman of the central press office for the Kurdistani National Union party, which is led by the Iraqi President Jalal al-Talibani, said in a statement that it is "ripe time that the two lists of the Kurdistani coalition and the United Iraqi Coalition to study removing the prime minister from his post," considering his presence as damaging for the political process in Iraq.

However, Talibani rejected the call made by the official spokesman for his party to remove Jaafari saying that the country is in need of stability and it will be witnessing a fateful referendum and important elections.

Talibani accused the prime minister to violating the law and taking decisions without consultation. He also accused Jaafari of not implementing items of a joint document signed between the sides of the Kurdsiatni coalition and the United Iraqi coalition before the formation of the current government. Jaafari said on Saturday he will react to Talibani accusations in " due time."
