Algeria, Politics, 10/3/2005

Algerian press sources said that Islamists gunmen killed three civilians in two separate attacks, days after the consent of the Algerians on a referendum on "the peace and reconciliation charter" which aims to end the long period of violence the country had suffered.

The Algerian daily al-Khabar said that two civilians were killed and other three injured on Saturday when their car was running over one mortar bomb implanted by gunmen on a road in al-Medya state, 120 Km to the southern west of the capital.

In the same day, the al-Salafeyah group for calland fighting killed a 63 year old cattle breeder in al-Maseela province southwest of the capital Algiers.

The "al-Salafeyah group for call and fighting" rejected the peace and national reconciliation charter project which was ratified by the majority of the Algerians in a general referendum held on Thursday.
