Parliament speaker: all activities at all Iranian facilities resume within Iran's legal right
Iran-UN, Politics, 9/30/2005
Iran's Parliament Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said Today, "We are not willing to see Iran's nuclear dossier go to the United Nations' Security Council."
The official Iranian news agency IRNA reported that: Speaking at a press conference in Beirut, the Iranian parliament speaker in response to a question, added, "Furthermore, we do not see any convincing legal reason why that would happen."
The parliament speaker reiterated, "We have had a good cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and taken all possible measures aimed at trust building throughout that cooperation."
He said, "What we are asking for is precisely within the written rules of the said agency, but the US and EU demands are beyond those regulations."
Haddad-Adel Added, "Currently, insisting on the need to be benefitted from our legal right regarding taking advantage of the nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and having the full nuclear fuel cycle, we do our best to solve Iran's nuclear problems through negotiation."
He said, "Imposing pressure and threatening to send Iran's nuclear dossier to the Security Council have turned a purely legal case into a fully political one in case of Iran's nuclear program."
The Iranian parliament speaker emphasized, "The UN Security Councils would not be the end of the world, at any rate."
In response to a question by Central News Bureau (CNB) of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) regarding the reason behind Israel's threats to bombardment Iran's nuclear facilities he said, "Iran is fully ready to face any aggressive move, and the Zionist regime knows too well that if it makes the mistake of attacking Iran's nuclear facilities it will be the big loser." Asked if Iran would resume its uranium enrichment activities before November meeting of IAEA Board of Governor, he said, "We have never had enrichment activities so far so that we would be resuming them as you say. What has happened is resuming the activities at Isfahan UCF center, that does not mean enrichment."
He reiterated, "Of course, we consider (uranium) enrichment our natural right in order to have access to full cycle of nuclear fuel cycle and in a bid to take peaceful advantage of the nuclear energy for electricity, agriculture, sanitary and medical purposes, and industrial activities."
The Seventh Majlis speaker reiterated, "Under the current conditions the Iranian Parliament has no inclination toward approving the NPT Additional Protocol and would only do so if Iran, too, could be benefitted from rights approved by the agency for all other countries."
He added, "We do not recommend joining any international organization that not only does not recognize the natural rights of some countries, but also deprives them of their rights."
