Weakest turnout for Algerian reconciliation in Kbyle area
Algeria, Politics, 9/30/2005

The lowest turnout rate for the current Algerian elections was registered in Teizi Ozo and Bejaya in Kbyle area where Tansiqeyat al- Oroush ( The largest family) called for a general strike in protest of Butaflika's rejections to introduce the Barbarian language as an official language.

News reports said that extremists from the supporters of Tanseqeyat al-Oroush threatened the voters in Teizi Ozo and some of them tried to attack a voting center in the state.

Moreover, it also seemed that the weak turnout in the two states came as a response for the boycotting call addressed by the opposition parties which are active in the two states, for the referendum. Among these opposition parties are the Socialist Forces Front and the Gathering For Culture And Democracy,

Supporters of the boycott considered that the charter in its current form constitutes a state of collective memory loss about the past because it perpetuates the principle of not punishing the security forces for their violations in acts of violence and abductions of citizens who are still missing.

To confirm the opposition for the general pardon, some of relatives of the victims of violence which has been hitting the country since 13 years, buried their voting cards near their tombs, demanding justice before any pardon.
