OIC backs Syria

Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference ( OIC ) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu on Wednesday stressed the Organization's support to Syria in its legitimate rights to restore the occupied Syrian Golan based on international relevant resolutions and the Land-for-Peace formula.
"President Bashar al-Assad meeting with Professor Ihsanoglu was an important opportunity to review the challenges Arab and Islamic countries are facing, including the Palestinian issue and the situation in Iraq," the Jeddah-based OIC said in a statement following the visit of Ihsanoglu to Syria. The statement added that the Professor referred to what he had noticed of President Assad's support to the Organization's role in boosting Islamic solidarity and unifying stances.
