Lebanon tightens measures against infiltrating persons
Lebanon-Syria, Politics, 9/29/2005

Lebanon on Wednesday witnessed a increased attention for the file of infiltration via its borders, after the minister of the interior Hassan al-Sabaa announced that measures will be taken against any person who infiltrates to the country, after information were reported to that pro-Syria Palestinians sneaked to Lebanon.

Al-Jazeera correspondent in Beirut said that minister al-Sabaa said that measures will be taken against Palestinians who sneak to Lebanon, adding that the Lebanese army tightened its measures in the surrounding of al-Na'ema town south of Beirut and Qosaya in the center of the Bekaa, where headquarters for the People's Front For Liberation of Palestine -- general command -- are situated.

The correspondent added that the General Command announced readiness for confrontation, and indicated that the measures ( by Lebanon) are part of the American instructions, and that these came after the arrival of the American Federal Bureau Investigators FBI to Lebanon.

Worthy mentioning that the position of the General Command in Qosaya witnessed tension after the withdrawal of the Syrian forces from Lebanon in May, after its members refused the entry to its headquarters for the UN members who came to Lebanon to verify the withdrawal of the Syrian army and intelligence.

The developments concerning the positions of the General Command came after the announcement made by the Lebanese prime minister Foaud Sinioura that he will ask for technical and logistic aid from France and the USA to halt the series of explosions that hit the country since the assassination of Rafiq al-Hariri.
