Abuja negotiations delays rejected
Sudan-UN, Politics, 9/28/2005
The African Union has rejected a request by Sudan's liberation movement to postpone the negotiations for two weeks. The Union's chief negotiator Salem Ahmad Salem gave the movement's delegation, after a long meeting with them, a grace period of one day in order to arrange their conditions and join the negotiations which are to be held today.
Meantime, the special advisor for the UN secretary general to prevent genocide, urged the Sudanese government to cooperate with the International criminal court in the Hague, noting that this issue is not in contradiction with national sovereignty.
