Mubarak, Qathafi efforts for success of Darfur negotiations

The Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and the Libyan leader Muammar al-Qathafi on Tuesday said they want to make use of their relations with various sides in the Darfur conflict, in Sudan, in order to provide a success for the current round of negotiations in Abuja.
In conclusion of their talks in Cairo, the spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency Suleiman Awad said that the discussions dealt with negotiations currently held in Abuja, Nigeria, and means of revitalizing joint efforts of Egypt and Libya for its success.
Awad said that Qathafi is linked to firm relations with the groups representing the two sides of the conflict and had an appreciated efforts in the attempt to urge these sides in being wise and flexible in order to reach a definite and comprehensive solution for the conflict.
He continued that Egypt, for its part, has firm relations with the Sudanese people in the north, south, east, and west, noting that Egypt is taking part in the current Abuja negotiations thru a personal representative for the President, ambassador Ahmad Hajjaj.
