More attacks, explosions in Iraq

Various areas in Iraq witnessed attacks early today that resulted in killing 24 Iraqis and injuring others as well as the killing of two American soldiers in two separate attacks in al-Anbar governorate west of the country.

Six Iraqis were killed and other 17 injured all of them are civilians when one suicide bomber detonated himself in a bus station in the "Aviation" square in the center of Baghdad on Friday at noon.

Also in Baghdad, the police said that unidentified gunmen killed one member in the "Baath extermination committee" and thereby the number of persons, members in the committee which is composed of 323 increased to 13 killed since its foundation two years ago.

Gunmen also killed in two separate attacks in al-Doura quarters and al-Mansour officials in the Ministry of Interior. In al-Doura attack, the brother of the official was killed and a third brother was injured.

In Ltefieh south of Baghdad one official in the railway directorate was killed and other 6 injured in a bomb explosion implanted on the railway side.

In Musil, the Iraqi police found the bodies of 6 persons killed in various parts of the city on Thursday evening and Friday morning. Gunmen killed one police man in the city.

Also in Musil, gunmen assassinated three officials from the Turkman's front in an attack that resulted also in injuring a fourth persons. One official in the front said that the attack took place while the officials were leaving their office on Thursday evening.

The American forces announced in a statement on Friday that it had detained 15 persons suspected to be members in a cell for gunmen in al-Khales north of Baghdad.

In Falluja, a marine killed one Iraqi after holding him at an American inspection point. A statement by the American army said that the Iraqi man tried to attack the soldier when was being interrogated.

In al-Dalou'eya, citizens in the city said that the American forces killed two Iraqi officers in the Iraqi police after breaking into their houses. In al-Ishaqi, the American forces detained the director of the city's police and the Islamic party official there.
