Saudi- Egyptian initiative to contain US pressure on Syria

The US SAWA Radio quoted a diplomatic source as saying that Egypt and Saudi Arabia will propose a joint initiative to contain the American pressure on Syria, by including Syria's commitment to deal with several issues Washington is calling for.
The radio said that the Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Abu al-Ghiet will be meeting during his current visit to the USA several American officials, especially the US secretary of state Condaleezza Rice and the national security advisor Steven Hadly. The radio quoted the source as saying that Egypt, and Saudi Arabia will discuss a joint initiative to contain pressure on Syria which vowed to start political reforms and collaborate in controlling the Iraqi borders and pressuring Hizbullah and banning the activities of the Palestinian opposition groups in Damascus.
A statement by the US Department Of State said that Abul al-Gheit talks will concentrate in Middle East issues and bilateral relations. Abul al-Gheit is due to meet several American congress members including finanace and defense committee chairmen and the leader of the democratic minority.
