Nine Americans killed in Iraq
Iraq, Military, 9/21/2005

The U.S. army on Tuesday announced the killing of four marines in Iraq in two separate attacks south of Baghdad. One American military police member was killed also in north Iraq.

The four soldiers were killed in two explosions. An attack came hours after a suicide attack targeted an American diplomatic procession in al-Muhandiseen (engineers) quarters in Musil, north Iraq, that resulted in killing four American security guards working in the Washington consulate in Musil.

One Iraqi security source announced the killing of an officer in the former Iraqi army and a prominent member in the dissolved Baath party on Sunday at the hands of unidentified persons disguised in military uniform in al-Masib, south of Baghdad. One civilian was found killed near an American base in Alexandria, south of Baghdad..

The U.S. army also announced the kidnapping of two doctors and other seven persons in the outskirts of Baghdad suspected to be collaborators with gunmen.

Meantime, the Sunni Iraqi national dialogue conference announced that a force from the Iraqi ministry of interior detained parliamentarian Ali al-Mashhadani and held the authorities responsible for what might happen to him. He linked this act to the efforts of the conference to gather five million signatures to reject the draft constitution and amend its articles.
