Jeddah: first women to enter chambers of commerce elections

The Saudi businesswoman Madhawi al-Hassoun has become the first candidate to enter elections in her country. This was after the Saudi government permitted women to be nominated for elections of the chambers of commerce in Jeddah.
Al-Hassoun said on Saturday after registering her name on the list of candidates that "Saudi women" will prove their ability to be members in the chamber of commerce, while still attached to tradition and jurisprudence governing our society."
