One American soldier was killed in Iraq

Gunmen rocketed the Green Zone area in Baghdad which includes the American and British embassies and the headquarters of the Iraqi government. A spokesman for the Iraqi police said that the attack resulted in no casualties.

On the other hand, nine gunmen were killed in a bombardment carried out by the American planes against a deserted school they were hiding in al-Karabelah area northwest of Baghdad. Other American planes bombarded what the American army said was a factory for bombs in Haditha west of Baghdad also.

Earlier the American army announced that one of its soldiers was killed by rockets fired at a camp for the American forces in al-Ramadi west of Iraq on Thursday. In a statement, the American army said that the soldier belongs to the American marines.

By the killing of this American soldier, the number of American soldiers killed in Iraq since the invasion of Iraq in March 2003 increased to 1899. according to the statistics conducted by the American defense department.

This came at a time when the acting governor of Tel-Afer district Maj. Gen Najm Abdullah said that the military operation by the government against the city had caused ethnic cleansing.

In statements to the Qatari news agency, he said that the number of victims of the military operations among the civilians reached only 7 elderly who dies after they refused to get out of their houses, while the wounded persons tolled 25.
